Following the release of his brand new No. 1 album ‘What A Time To Be Alive‘ and winning the Brit Award for best British Breakthrough artist, I had the chance to catch Tom Walker playing a special acoustic set. The venue was in a small 450 capacity room at The Wardrobe in Leeds all arranged thanks to local record store Crash Records.

It may have been a cold and miserable night outside in Leeds but as soon as we stepped foot into the venue there was an air of anticipation about how special this evening was going to be. As the crowd filled the room it was clear to see just how many people his music connected with.

From the moment he took to the stage to the moment he left the crowd were in awe singing along to every word! From the opening note of Angels it was clear just how on point Tom’s vocals. What followed was a 40 minute set of perfection. With new tracks such as Fade Away getting just as much of a song along as his final song and possibly most famous Leave A Light On. In between songs Tom’s humility shine through with plenty of joking around, thanking of the crowd, and really building the connection with his audience.

Following the sublime set Tom then proceeded to spend the next 2 hours meeting fans to sign copies of the album’s and taking photos. It’s not very often that an artist comes around with so much talent whilst also being so humble and genuine. It really was a pleasure to see this show and praise needs to be given to Crash Records for really helping to keep the music scene alive and kicking in Leeds with special events just like this one! In the words of Tom’s album – What A Time To Be Alive!!
